But when you know how powerfully nutritious these gross-sounding drinks really are, perhaps you’d be willing to give it a try. Admittedly, some of the greenest juices are an acquired taste, but many of them are delicious. If you’re interested in juicing, I recommend juicing vegetables that you like as a whole vegetable. Carrots are naturally sweet. It’s a great way to start. Don’t forget, you can add fruit to these drinks. Apples are good to use to sweeten even the most bitter greens like dandelion greens.
Above is a picture of my Mean Juice Green I made this morning. It looks beautiful, doesn't it? It consists of:
3 organic carrots
1 beet (including its greens)
1 Granny Smith apple
1 Honey Crisp apple
1 inch of ginger
Juice with a vegetable juicer, pour into your favorite glass and enjoy. Sometimes I sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg on top. It’s really delicious and nutritious. It is also a terrific juice to get started on your juicing journey.
Here are the benefits of my Mean Juice Green juice:
- Carrots are high in beta-carotene which, in the body, is converted into Vitamin A, and help prevent heart disease and cancer, aid digestion and cleanse the liver.
- Apples are a low glycemic fruit known for a wide variety of health benefits which include promoting a healthy brain, heart, and blood glucose levels. The antioxidants in apples help protect nerve cells as well.
- Beets are rich in vitamins and minerals. They have antioxidant properties that help protect against certain cancers. The leafy green tops are an excellent source of vitamin A, which is good for skin and vision.
- Ginger has a wide range of health benefits which include aiding with digestion and circulation. It also helps ease nausea and arthritis.
